Milky Way Portriat 2025 August

Ready to participate in a unique experience of image creation?

Several things need to happen together to make a Milky-Way portrait happen:

  • a location dark enough to photograph the faint milky-way
  • the moon is not visible in the night sky
  • the sky needs to be practically cloudless that same night?

I have the location south of Landstuhl, I know the nights the moon will
not in the sky, but the night that there are no cloud or very little clouds!

I am looking for clients that:

  • Have the patients for waiting for these conditions to occur at least one night of the 7 nights for August?
  • Can you be ready in two hours notice the night these conditions appear at the session location?

If you can handle the above you are ready for a Milky-Way Portrait session.

I will be taking on three clients for a night starting August 17th 2025.  All three clients will be contacted two hours before session when weather is clear to meet at the location.

We meet together in village near location and walk out to the scene location and I will guide each of you through the process. Plan to be at the scene location for several hours, even though your actual photo time may last 15 minutes. As you may want to try a slightly different pose you saw another client do. We only have to race against the rising of the moon which happens after midnight, and about an hour later each night.

Clients will be couples, individuals (i.e. High School Grads) or families consisting of members over the age of 13. Please note that the ability to holding still for between 8-10 seconds and to follow directions is critical for exposure.

No-shows forfeit their retainer fee, as your no-show will have prevented someone else of this opportunity of this unique image. If there is not a break in the clouds? You can forward session the next month date block or do a light painting session at regular session fee.

I have constructed custom lighting equipment for Milky-Way Portraits. I will also test new lighting gear and techniques.

Retainer fee 180 euro. Total fee 650 euro with Two Edited Digital Images
and a single print on canvas or acrylic of 50cm x 75cm print. Basically, up to the size of 125cm in united dimensions.

The one thing to understand is one cannot schedule the night they want their Milky-Way Portrait session to happen because clouds are unpredictable far out into the future.

I’ve made the ability of capturing a Milky-Way Portrait for clients as simple as possible: sign-up, get a notice from me, show-up, follow simple directions, and there is the image.

I’ve done several “Capturing the Milky-Way Workshops,” but the look on peoples faces after seeing the back of the camera their Milky-Way Portrait in just one exposure is another level to experience.

Milky Way Portrait

Milky
Way Portrait
- a couple came to me wanting to do a baby announcement. I
have before taken a photo of the Milky Way after capturing the Comet
Neowise. I asked if they were interested in attempting to be in portrait in front of the Milky Way in one exposure.
Took multiple attempts and me making the custom bird cage with the
right amount of light. What you see here is with very little editing.
The location now has a barn a now have another location.  There are only a limited amount of nights this type of photo can be taken: Spring
and fall; during the summer it never gets completely dark; the moon
can’t be the sky at night as it washes out the stars; also no clouds or
haze. Message me if you are interested in participating in the creation of such an image before your eyes.
